I received word today that I have been accepted as a "Provisional Exhibitor" for the 2026 Piedmont Craftsmen's Fair. The Piedmont Craftsmen’s Fair is a major fine craft event held each November at the Benton Convention Center in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It features over 100 juried artisans from across the U.S. showcasing one-of-a-kind works in clay, wood, glass, leather, metal, and fiber. My work will be juried a second time at the fair and if approved I will become a permanent member of the guild. I am honored to be a provisional member.
This is from the application: "The Piedmont Craftsmen Standards Committee searches for new Exhibiting Members whose body of work, whether contemporary or traditional, one-of-a-kind or studio production, shows EXCELLENCE and CREATIVITY in concept, design, and technique. If you are accepted as a new Exhibiting Member you will join a group of nearly 400 fine craft professionals from throughout the United States who are recognized nationally and internationally for their excellence in technique and design."
For me, this is, in the immortal words of Yogi Berra, deja vu all over again. 50 years ago I exhibited at the Piedmont Craftsmen's Fair with Robert S Brunk as his apprentice.
