50th Anniversary
50 years, not marriage (though we are close at 46 in June), 50 years of making puzzles. I’m not sure exactly which year I started making them but know it was around 1972. I was living on a mountain in western North Carolina near Asheville as the apprentice of Robert S Brunk. I was the puzzle-maker. I also sanded the cutting boards.
Fast forward 50 years and I’m still making puzzles and cutting boards. The process has changed considerably because of the modern tools I use. There is a lot less sanding required since my jointer and planer have helical heads and the boards are already so smooth. The process is still mostly by hand though, including sanding each puzzle piece individually by hand.
Here are some puzzles and cutting boards I finished yesterday.
