Ahhhh!

The picture you see is not of two drill presses nor of metal ductwork, it is a picture of the wall unit of my new mini-split heating and air conditioning unit. Ahhhh is what I said when we were finished with the installation and we turned it on for the first time. My son Stephen just finished building his own house, by himself, all by himself. The only contractor he used was for the plumbing. One of the more challenging things he did was to put in a five unit mini-split. Every room in his house can be individually temperature controlled. He convinced me not to replace the window a/c that had just failed in the shop but to put in a mini-split. He wound up doing the lion’s share of that work but I was an excellent helper and cheerleader.

I heat with wood in the winter but the stove is in the old shop and the heat doesn’t distribute to the new shop very well. The mini-split solves that problem. It cools in the summer and heats in the winter.

No excuses now, I can work in any weather comfortably.

The new shop is 36’ X 48’, 1728 sq. ft.. It is a single room but has a 12’ double bi-fold door into the old shop which is 24’ X 48’, 1152 sq. ft. The mini-split is 24000 btu unit from LG. I do have a small window a/c in the front of the old shop which I’m running on these 90 degree + days. The shop is easily staying 72 degrees and it’s dry, not 90% + relative humidity like it always was in the summer. Ahhhh!
