Finally, A Response!
I finally heard from an administrator at my domain host. It’s pretty good news. “First of all, I'd like to clarify that visits to your site, no matter how frequent or repetitive in nature, do not represent a security threat to you or your site. No visitor is able to see any information other than what is publicly available on your pages”. That’s good. “That said, we do recognize how high-volume traffic like this can interfere with the usability of your Squarespace Analytics. I can confirm that a number of other sites have recently seen directed traffic from China in a similar fashion to your site, and our engineers are tracking cases with an eye to hopefully mitigating the issue in the future. I've now added your site to their notes as well. We can't promise any kind of specific timetable on when a resolution may be in place, but feel free to reach out any time for an update. As mentioned, this does not represent any kind of threat to your privacy or security.”
I’m not sure why I feel better that other sites are experiencing the same problem but I do. They aren’t targeting me, they’re targeting us. That’s good because it now has the attention of my domain host.
Now I can worry about making enough stock for Christmas and stop worrying about cyber attacks.
I’m in the process of making several jewelry dishes. More on that this weekend but below is a teaser:
