Home Again
I had a great visit with my former workmates and enjoyed our tour of the Biltmore House. It’s pretty amazing that one man and his immense fortune built a house with four acres of floor space (135,280 square feet of living area). There are 250 rooms in the house, including 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, 65 fireplaces, and three kitchens. It doesn’t seem hardly enough, what would you do if you had unexpected guests?
There was some pretty fancy woodwork in the house but I think I enjoyed the gardens and greenhouses the most. The weather was perfect. I was in great company.
We were pressed for time and didn’t tour the winery but managed the wine tasting. It was surprisingly good wine. They have one wine that is $95.00 a bottle but it wasn’t on the tasting menu. The wines we tried were $13.00 to $30,00 a bottle. My son Stephen installed a solar energy farm just behind the winery but I never got to see it.
Though I have always wanted to see the Biltmore House the real reason I went was to meet up with good friends. What fun we had. Here are some of us at the wine tasting.
