She’s Almost Always Right
I got an inquiry about a very expensive bowl in May from a repeat customer. He wanted to buy the bowl as a gift for the landlord of his upscale business. I have sold him a number of expensive bowls and cutting boards in the past, even hand delivering several of them. He asked for a big discount and if he could pay half upfront and half in 30 days. My wife Pennie said no. I assured her that he would pay. We are talking about a $2000.00 bowl here.
I insisted on receiving the initial payment before shipping the bowl. It took 3 weeks to get the check. He texted every few days to see if I had shipped it while I was waiting on the check. I did not ship it until I received the check. That was in May. He received the bowl as promised.
This is August, still no second payment. He said he would return the bowl if I sent him a refund. I am gullible but not stupid. Pennie was right, I should have said no in the first place. She is almost always right!
