This shallow quartersawn oak wood bowl has a hint of spalting or mineral stain.  It has a nice honey coloration and the swirling ray figure (the swirling ray figure reminds me of a school of fish).  The plank I made this bowl from was purchased in 1994 when my wife and I were building our new house.  It was purchased to use making our interior doors.  We wound up getting in a hurry to move in and bought doors instead.  This bowl has a rounded, curved taper, undercut rim and a raised foot.  It has a food safe, natural, oil finish.
