This pommele sapele shallow bowl or plate has extraordinary dapple figure and lush mahogany/copper coloration. I just love this wood. The chatoyant figure dances when you turn it in the light. You can see that best in the video. The tree (Entandrophragma cylindricum) gets its name from the Nigerian city of Sapele, and the timber is harvested across countries including Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, and the Congo. This bowl has a rounded over, curved taper, undercut rim and a raised foot. It has a food safe, natural, oil finish.
