#2117 Pommele Sapele Wooden Bowl 11 3/8" x 1 7/8" Sapele Bowl African Sapele Wooden Bowl Exotic Sapele Bowl
This pommele sapele wooden bowl is made from what I consider exotic wood. I don't normally use much exotic wood. I mostly turn wood native to the US. Some years ago a woodworking friend asked me to help out a wood collector who was ill and was selling all of his inventory. When we got to his house there was wood stored everywhere. The sapele was in his living room and one bedroom. I bought out most of his stock. This pommele sapele wood bowl has lots of figure and really shows it when you turn it in the light. Pommele is the French term for dappled and it is especially apt for describing highly figured woods like pommele sapele. It’s very hard to capture the chatoyance with the camera but the figure does really look 3-D. There is a very small drying crack that has been repaired.
What a great wedding gift this pommele sapele wooden bowl would make or give it as an anniversary gift. If you give this bowl as a gift, the recipient will think of you every time they look at it!
