Big leaf maple is one of my favorite woods. The figure, the color and the dense grain make it very satisfying to work with. This small handcrafted dish was made by me on a lathe in my workshop in rural NC. I bought this piece of wood and many others similar to this in auctions 10-15 years ago. This wood comes from the Pacific Northwest, primarily Oregon though some comes from Washington and Northern California. This is a gallery quality piece in a small package. It has a rounded, curved taper, undercut rim and a small raised foot. It has a food safe, natural, oil finish.
