This small ambrosia maple burl wood bowl is loaded with figure and color. From cream to honey to copper to gray to reddish brown, this small bowl is exploding with color. This bowl is made from southern maple that has been attacked by ambrosia beetles. The beetles bring with them a fungus that makes the wood so colorful. There is one ambrosia beetle hole in the rim and one in the foot. All of my bowls are soaked in denatured alcohol for several days to stop any activity in the wood. This bowl has a rounded, curved taper, undercut rim and a raised foot. It has a food safe, natural, oil finish.
