This small spalted black walnut wood bowl shows the contrast between the sapwood (light) and the heartwood (dark). You might say the difference is night and day. Hehe. This lovely bowl has very dense grain and is heavy for it’s It has a rounded oversize and thickness. It has a rounded over, curved taper, undercut rim and a raised foot. It has a food safe, natural, oil finish. This bowl is a from a tree cut down in NC to make way for a driveway. I’m glad I cut turn it into something useful and beautiful.
