This tiger maple shallow bowl is made from a big leaf maple tree from the Pacific Northwest, probably Oregon. Other names for this figure are flame maple or fiddleback maple. Big leaf maple is prized by furniture makers and bowl makers alike for it’s intense figure. This bowl has amber growth ring transition lines and very chatoyant tiger figure. It’s very hard to capture the beauty in still photos but you can see it better in the video. This bowl has a rounded, curved taper, undercut rim and a raised foot. It has a food safe, natural, oil finish.
