#2338 Small Quartersawn Red Oak Wooden Bowl 4 7/8" x 2"
This small oak bowl was made from a quartersawn red oak plank that I got in 1994. It was part of a big lot of quartersawn lumber that I purchased while building my house which is post and beam construction with red oak. The growth rings are almost perfectly vertical, typical of quartersawn lumber. This plank came from a very fast growing tree as evidenced by the very wide growth rings. When you turn this bowl in the light you can see the rays in concentric circles on the bottom and up the walls. This small bowl has a curved tapered rim and a small raised foot. Food safe, natural, oil finish.
